Ah, July 4th. Midsummer is here, the BBQ is out, work is put on hold, fireworks are about to light up the sky and we are surrounded by friends and family. Life is good.
While we celebrate Independence Day today, I want to present a slightly different view on today. I was listening to some audio CD's by one of my favorite teachers, David Richo, about "How Relationships Work". He was talking about boundaries in relationships and said that if you think setting boundaries in relationships is selfish; remember it's no different than what our forefathers did on July 4th, 1776.
David's words really got me thinking and at the perfect time to.
I don't know about you, but this year's Summer Solstice has been particularly powerful and has brought about immense change in my life in the flash of an eye. And in the midst of this storm I'm reminded that all change is for my highest good, and when everything changes at once the hand of a power greater than me is responsible for the timing. Many people I know have been forced to recognize and address old habits, relationships and ways of living over the past few weeks that do not serve them anymore. Many dormant shadows have shown their presence so that the light of our awareness can rid them from our lives once and for all.
Now what does this have to do with July 4th you ask? Well I want to suggest, with the help of Mr. Richo, that after we have celebrated the boundaries and Independence of this great nation that we take a moment to make today our personal Independence Day as well.
Let today be the day that you declare to yourself that you have inalienable rights and have the courage to stand up to those in your life who convince you otherwise. If any of your relationships do not promote your right to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness", do what we did in 1776 and draw a boundary. And like the Preamble says, if any relationship becomes destructive, it is your right to abolish it and create new relationships that promote Safety and Happiness.
A single act of defiance in the face of oppression created a whole new country full of new found possibility and freedom. And so it is with you, if you are feeling the need for your own Declaration of Independence, have the courage to stand up for what you need. Who knows what kind of new life and possibilities are out there just waiting for you to claim your right and acknowledge that you deserve a better life? What would of happened if our forefathers hadn't taken a stand? Where would that of left us?
If you are not in the flow of your happiness, then abundance, freedom, creativity, joy and love cannot be yours. And if you are not in alignment with belief that what you desire for yourself you also desire for others, then these gifts will also evade you.
All beings are created equal and deserve happiness. Claim your right to happiness and let go of trying to control the will others. Give them the space to find what they need and give yourself the room to do the same.
As they say in the program, "first things rights, live and let live, share your happiness, easy does it".
The examples of how to do this are all around you. It's up to you to claim your own happiness and release others to find this gift for themselves.
All my love,
Mastin

Summer Solstice
Midsummer's Opportunity to Reap the Harvest of Love
So it's that time of the year already, its hard to believe. Sunday June 21st is Summer Solstice and marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
Summer Solstice (or Midsummer) represents the end of spring and beginning of summer.
This is the time of year to celebrate the coming prosperity of the harvest and the good fortune of the warm summer months. But what are YOU harvesting?
The seeds of love you've been planting and acting upon in the first part of the year have begun to create a new life. It is this time of year that you must tend to the crops of your new life and make sure they are protected through the rest of the year. Many times crops can be infested or malnourished by now, which is why in many ancient traditions Summer Solstice was a time of prayer that the fall harvest would bring a bountiful return.
And just like the farmers protecting their yield, now is a time of year for you to check in and see how the new seeds of love and desire you planted are manifesting. This is the time of year when many old habits are broken and circumstances are brought to a head. It' time to rid the crops of your new goals and desires from any fearful thought parasites to insure a bountiful harvest. Just as the Sun will shine it's brightest during Summer Solstice, the light of your awareness can intensely illuminate the unconscious dark parts of your beliefs that are holding you back from your Highest Potential.
The new life of 2009 that you've chosen is now showing you all the blocks that are in the way of manifesting the life you truly want which is why so many things are being brought to a head. There must be a purification of the old before the new can truly enter.
While the recession is a global reality, the belief that lack true for you and that you are powerless to do anything about it is just another illusion. The truth is that you are surrounded by an abundant Uni-verse and have been given intuition and free will. And in between what you know you can achieve and actually making it happen is fear.
Take one more step today towards love. Take one more step today towards the destiny you want to create. And don't be afraid to let go of the habits and relationships that don't serve your greatest good or Highest Potential anymore. Spring cleaning is done... Ask yourself, what do you want to harvest in the fall? A bountiful crop planted in the soil of your love and self-esteem in action, or an infested crop that's withered away by the parasite of fear?
The choice is yours, right here, right now.
Have an amazing Solstice wherever you are!
Much love to you!
Mastin

The Face of Love
Love's confusion
Is a bittersweet ride
A path that leads to
The unknown’s surprise
I've given up
Trying to figure out why
And surrendered to the fact
That I'm just along for the ride
Cuz there's no way to know
What love has in store
There's no way of guessing
What's behind loves closed door
The only thing
That can be known
Is that the path of love
Will lead you to everything
That you're supposed to be shown
So I let go
And let love guide the way
And laugh at thinking
That I could of
Ever controlled love anyway
Love has many faces
That will smile and frown
Each one of them is a messenger
To a truth once lost
That now you have found
So don't fret and don't worry
Cuz you'll never be left alone
Follow loves urges and
You'll surely find that
Place called home
Where you give and allow in
All of loves blessings
Cuz you finally believe
That all the love that you give
Ten fold you will receive
The face of love may change
But the soul of love stays true
Have faith in what's showing up
And remember everything you seek
Is really inside you

Love For No Reason
The path of your heart will lead you many places
And most of the time
You won’t know why
The alchemy
Of trusting the mystery
Pulls your dreams down from the sky
So just let go
And start believin’
You don’t need to have
A reason
If you don’t know where to start
Follow your heart
Cuz love is never out of season
And if you see the edge ahead
And are afraid that you
Might die
Remember the edge you see
Is your opportunity
To grow your own wings and fly
So just let go and start believin’
Trust that love has it’s
Own reason
Just know that in your heart
Is where you start
To trust in your own feelings
And when you leap off the edge
And say
Goodbye
And when you jump you’ll see
You’ve been set free
And it’s only your fear that’s meant to die
Remember that
Life changes with the season
And when you think that
Your love is leavin’
Sometimes things fall apart
And break your heart
To let the love within be the feelin’
You’ll never walk alone
When you trust what
Whispers to you inside
The voice of divinity
Will set you free
And never tell a lie
And if you see the edge ahead
And are afraid that you
Might die
Remember the edge you see

A Memorial Day Reflection
Today in America we take a day of reflection to celebrate the fallen heroes of the United States Military. Memorial Day reminds us of the great sacrifice of our brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces. Since America's founding days the price of the freedom we enjoy has cost over one million American lives.
Many more lives have been lost over the course of human history due to war and genocide. As we celebrate our fellow Americans who have laid their lives down so that we may free, let us not forget all of our fallen brothers and sisters across the globe. It hard to know exactly, but estimates show that close to one billion human beings have lost their lives due to human conflict since the beginning of recorded history.
That is almost one billion hearts that no longer beat. There are almost one billion fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, lovers and friends who never again in their lifetime tasted the sweet joy of love, or the simple bliss of a sunny afternoon. How many children weren't born, how many widows slept in half filled beds, how many great business, insights, discoveries and yet to be told love stories died with each fallen soul? It is such a large number that it's hard to fathom the magnitude of the total loss. Each life was a flame that was prematurely extinguished. Who knows what great and wonderful things could have been brought through the lives of those we have lost. These are gifts that our world shall never know.
We are all born knowing that love and communion with our creator are our natural birthrights. But we have forgotten that no one can take these away from us. All war is rooted with the thought forms that there is not enough, more must be acquired, there is a separation between "us" and "them" and that the name of "our" right to love and communion is the only real name and "their" name for it wrong. So in the quest for more, the illusion of separation and the argument over the name of Love and Divinity, all wars are brought forth.
But our fallen remind us that in our quest for security, love, communion and annihilation of "them", that it is only "us" who get hurt. Since, in reality there are no borders and we are all one expression of human life living in many forms, our wars are a fight against our own inner shadow. We seek to destroy in others that which we fear most about our own self. And our fallen heroes are our legacy of acting on this fear.
One billion lives, one billion human beings who all bleed the same crimson blood as we do have died because we are afraid of ourselves. Their sacrifice is not in vein, instead they show us though their absence the price of our fear. And this loss transcends all human definitions, borders and semantics. Perhaps our fellow humans did not die prematurely and instead they have all fallen to show the rest of us our common humanity. No matter what race, religion, nation or tribe we belong to we all share the same pain of the loss of a loved one. No matter our differences, we can all agree that in our heart of hearts all we want is a chance to be happy and to love.
If love is what we truly seek, then we must boldly say no to our fear and instead embrace that which we are afraid of with the understanding that everything we fear is a mirror to the fear we have of our own shadow. It's impossible to blame "them" because in reality there is only "us".
Let the lives of the one million fallen Americans and almost one billion fallen human beings remind us of what happens when we choose fear over love. Let us bow and send thanks to them and honor their sacrifice by choosing love over fear. Every time we decide to point the finger of blame at another, let us first point this finger at our own shadow. The peace that we seek can only be brought forth by shining the light of love on the dark side of our fears and knowing we must do the same for anyone we consider an enemy. In this way we will come to find that the only enemy was fear.
Have a great day!
In love,
Mastin

A More Perfect Union
The world
As it twirls
Is being hurled towards light
But our thoughts
As their caught
Seem to put up a fight
We think
And we drink
From the bottle of fear
While we hope
And we cope
That the darkness will clear
But in front of our eyes
Are the abundant open skies
And air that never runs out
The sun constantly shines
Even if the stock market declines
For faith illuminates all doubt
Separation is a myth
Love is the locksmith
That holds liberation's key
To a more perfect union
Of Spirit and humans
Not killing over the name of the One divinity
We've been given a dream
That requires self-esteem
To create our Universal birthright
Of creative freedom
Born from our internal kingdom
Where no matter what everything is alright

Love is the Answer
Love is the answer
To any questions on your mind
Love is the path
To any treasure you want to find
Love is the key
To any doors you find locked
Love is the reason
To keep your heart unblocked
Ego is the motive
For all our Global fights
For when Love is absent
Darkness replaces the light
Without Love
All things meet certain death
Not having Love
Is like not having breath
We choke on the fights, the wars and the endless brigade Of our judgments, opinions and all problems man made
In the seeking of gold
And more security
Is an Ego that is thinking
There's not enough Love here for me
So it takes and it rapes and it never rests To ensure that no matter what and at all costs That it's fragile broken heart it protects
But the Ego doesn't know
The greatest secret of all
That Love is for free
And builds bridges over Walls
Love only gives
Like the Sun's shining rays
Love transcends Fear
And sets the Ego ablaze
Love starts within
And in a constant choice
To choose Love over
Fear's misguided voice
So let Love in
Be courageous and strong
'Cuz if you Trust in Love
Happiness won't be far along
